Wish Stories

Addie, age 11, of Clackamas

If you could wish for anything, what would it be?

Wish granting starts with that one question—a wonderful, magical question that indulges the imagination and empowers the spirit.

There’s nothing like making a child’s wish come true. During a wish experience, joy eclipses illness – and that’s why we’re here. You can read about some of our inspirational, creative and magical wishes by visiting Wishes Granted.

How Wishes Are Granted

Maria, age 7, of Canby

Every fulfilled wish represents a unique collaboration between wish families, medical professionals, volunteers and donors. Wish granting truly is a magical, yet comprehensive and dynamic process.

Each Make-A-Wish® chapter follows specific policies and guidelines for granting a child’s wish. The physician also plays a major role in determining whether the child’s condition will permit a particular wish to be carried out safely. The Foundation staff works closely with the wish child’s physician and family to determine the most appropriate time to grant the wish, keeping in mind the child’s treatment protocol or other concerns.
